For the summer months, camping and hiking are the two most popular outdoor activities to partake in. Mount San Jacinto State Park has over 54 miles of hiking trails. You have the option of a self-navigated hike, or the park volunteers offer a free guided nature walk that lasts approximately 40 minutes.
For camping options, there are six campgrounds available, however, there are no water hookups or restrooms available so make sure you come prepared.
For either of these outdoor activities, permits are to be obtained. These permits have been enforced to preserve nature and limit entry onto the land so it can be enjoyed and protected as intended; nonetheless, these permits are free.
Sky High Dining
There are two restaurants and a lounge on top of the mountain. Peaks Restaurant is an upscale dining experience that was ranked #8 on Architectural Digest's list of the "World's Best Cliffside Restaurants". As well, it is highly recommended that you make a reservation. Pines Cafe is a cafeteria-style establishment with a wide selection of cuisine choices. There is even a "Ride 'n' Dinner" special offer with a preselected dinner after a round trip on the tramcar!
A cocktail bar, The Lookout Lounge, is also at the top of the mountain offering drinks and appetizers with a gorgeous view!
