Palm Springs has a new and friendly place to experience Japanese living. At Wabi Sabi, you can shop for home goods, taste sake, attend classes, and more.

Background on Wabi Sabi: The owners are two natives of Palm Springs who visit Japan each year to visit their family. Darrell Baum and Osamu Sagara's new shop is their way of sharing their love of Japan with their neighbors back home. The name wabi sabi refers to finding beauty in imperfection. It's a Japanese aesthetic that embraces the impermanent and the incomplete.

Shopping at Wabi Sabi: While they specialize in home goods, Baum and Sagara also import just about everything imaginable from Japan and Asia. They carry dinnerware, Japanese kitchen knives, and more than 100 styles of chopsticks. You'll also find sake, shochu, and Japanese beer, as well as coffee and tea accessories, plants, skincare, and men and women's fashion and accessories. There's also a section for Japanese art. If you still want more, they are happy to special order items for you too.

Events at Wabi Sabi: The calendar is jam packed with events almost every day of the week. Some are free, and some are ticketed. There are lots of classes about cooking, sake pairings, tea and coffee, bonsai gardening, and skin care. You'll learn how to slurp your noodles, and you'll have the opportunity to take part in private tastings. You may even learn some facts that will surprise you. While you could probably guess that using chopsticks for hair accessories is considered a faux pas, you may not know that it's a breach of etiquette to use these utensils to stir your food.

Wabi Sabi is just one example of the unique attractions waiting for you when you visit Palm Springs. Contact us today to find out more about how you can rent a luxury home for your next vacation in the Desert.
