With chic shopping by day and abundant attractions once the sun goes down, Palm Springs' Uptown Design District is an oasis that can certainly sate your thirst for both retail and nightlife. The backbone of the District is North Palm Canyon Drive where Trina Turk opened her flagship boutique in 2002 and kickstarted the transformation of Palm Springs' "it" destination according to Palm Springs Life's article "A Hip Hop Block Party". This four block pedestrian paradise offers a walkable destination that is chock full of shopping and restaurants outlets. This mid-century modern mecca offers galleries, antique shops, and consignment stores aplenty.

Just north of Trina Turk, across Hermosa Place, Just Modern offers unique "New Century Modern" decor at great prices. J. Chris Mobley and Stewart Penn founded the company in 2011 and offer proof that Palm Springs' history of innovative design can still be seen-and purchased today. Items range from large pieces of exquisite furniture to tasteful wall-hangings and just about any budget can find an outlet here. Many consignment stores nearby offer alternatives to give new life to historical furnishings.

After working up a hunger- or a thirst!, the Uptown Design District offers a plethora of gastronomic delights. Since 2012, two blocks south of Trina Turk, Workshop Kitchen Bar's twenty-seven foot ceilings have allowed you to experience the heights of food and drink at 664 North Palm Canyon Drive. The eighteen ounce Prime Aged Rib-Eye grilled over a wood fire is worth the wait-especially when "waiting" with one of their seasonal cocktails! But Workshop is but one of many fabulous places to eat and drink in the District. There's also Jakes Palm Springs, located at 664 N Palm Canyon Drive, which is considered the "hidden gem" among locals and foodies in Palm Springs. Jakes is a hip, cool, casual American Bistro with an incredibly charming romantic outdoor courtyard - and the Sea Bass in to die for!

The Uptown Design District is reason enough to visit Palm Springs, but if you find yourself here for other reasons, carve out an afternoon and evening for the best of decor and dining...not to mention great fashion!
