Think the Palm Springs Art Museum is just a place to get out of the heat for the day?  Think again.  With revolving and permanent displays, a theater and three different sites, there is always something happening at the Palm Springs Art Museum.

The Palm Springs Art Museum

Having outgrown the original 10,000 square foot building in the late 60's, the Palm Springs Art Museum (at a constant 75 degrees if you must know) has a huge theater, classrooms, a lecture hall, a 1,000 square foot store, and a very popular cafe.  While the museum used to be multi-disciplinary, the focus has shifted to being a world class museum with an amazing theater program.  If you are looking for Western art, Contemporary art, Photography, Architecture, and more, you'll love going through the 28 galleries. And if you're out and about on Thursday evening, admission to the Museum is FREE from 4pm-8pm.

The Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert

In the Palm Springs Art Museum in Palm Desert, you'll find an architecturally significant building called The Galen with four galleries that feature rotating exhibits, an education wing that gives programming related to the current shows, and the Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden.  The Faye Sarkowsky Sculpture Garden is 250,000 square feet of beautiful native plantings, winding walkways, water features, and more than 10 outdoor sculptures. Admission to the Museum in Palm Desert is Free all the time, thanks to Helene Galen.

The Palm Springs Art Museum Architecture Design Center

The first floor of this 13,000 square foot building houses displays in architecture including floor plans, models and more.  Meantime, the building itself has received Class 1 Historic Site protective status.  Renovations included floor to ceiling windows that give a breathtaking view of the city and the Jacinta Mountains.

Palm Springs has a world class museum, and it is so amazing, it can't be contained in one building. Check it out...there is something for everyone, and those 75 degree inside temps don't hurt!
