If you're looking for some unique Halloween fun, look no further than Palm Springs for plenty of festivities to make your inner ghoul smile.

This year marks the 200th anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Or The Modern Prometheus, and the Welwood Murray Memorial Library in Palm Springs is hosting a special event in its honor. On October 23 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, "Frankenstein: Celebrating the 200th Anniversary" will examine the Frankenstein legacy in film with a documentary, followed by a viewing of the original 1931 classic starring Boris Karloff.

The Rancho Mirage Library and Observatory puts a different twist on Halloween fun with their Halloween Spooktacular on October 27 from 1-5 PM. This three-part celebration begins with the "Hilarious Halloween Haunt" featuring the Franklin Haynes Marionettes, "a show full of goofy goolies". Then join in a costume parade and trick or treating throughout the library, and end the day with a screening of the movie Coco, where a young boy enters the Land of the Dead to find an explanation for his family's generations-old ban on music.

Get your costumes ready for The Living Desert Zoo and Gardens' 24th annual Howl-O-Ween adventure in Palm Desert on Saturday, October 27 from 9 AM to 12 PM and on Wednesday, October 31 from 6 PM to 8:30 PM. Hit the trick-or-treat trail, see over a thousand Halloween lights and decorations, take part in pumpkin bowling and even play Quidditch! There'll be music, a monster maze, arts and crafts, magic and a wizard workshop - you can even go home with photos of your memorable day or night.

Join in the fun at one of the largest Halloween celebrations in Palm Springs - Halloween Palm Springs on Arenas Road, where high energy meets great entertainment! On October 31 from 5-10 PM, get your dance shoes moving to the beat of Billboard Dance Chart Stopper Debby Holiday who, along with her band, will have you jamming the night away to her mega-hits. The show goes on with internationally acclaimed DJ Phil B, Marina Mac, Chi Energy, Keisha D, and more; take part in the Disco Dance-Off Contest hosted by Dan McGrath of Sunny 103.1 FM or the Halloween costume contest. And best of all, this event is free with only a suggested donation of $5.
