Though there is plenty to see and do on the ground in Palm Springs, there's little to compare with the thrill of seeing a city while soaring high above it. Get a whole new perspective when you climb aboard one of Palm Springs' aerial adventures while enjoying your Palm Springs vacation rental!

For the ultimate thrill seeker, Palm Springs Biplanes offers rides in one of their 1940 Stearman Biplanes. The Stearman was used throughout World War II as a training aircraft for both the U.S. Navy and Army Air Forces, so you can imagine yourself a World War II Flying Ace with the wind in your hair. The open-air cockpit gives you an exciting and unobstructed view of the sights below as the sound of the engine roars in your ears. The biplane seats one or two passengers and flights can last anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. Digitally recorded footage of your entire flight is available after you touch back down.

If an open cockpit is a bit intimidating, head over the Palm Springs Air Museum to catch a ride on a C-47 Skytrain. The Skytrain, a military transport aircraft, was also used extensively during World War II, most famously during the invasion of Normandy. Now serving as a moving exhibit at the museum, this C-47 is painted with traditional nose art and invasion stripes just as it would have been when on military duty. Rides last around 20 minutes and require a minimum of 5 passengers be booked before it can take-off. After your flight, you can check out the rest of the exhibits at the museum, showcasing the importance and influence of air power during the eras of World War II, Korean, and Vietnam Wars.

Warplanes aren't for everyone. If you'd rather be safely inside and on a more scenic than historic ride, Big Blue Air Tours has the flight for you. Offering helicopter tours of the city and surrounding Coachella Valley, Big Blue operates a three-person Robinson R-44 Raven II and a Eurocopter Astar 350 which seats up to five. Rides are 8 to 60 minutes in length depending on the package you select, and may include city lights, celebrity homes, windmills, or scenic mountains and canyons. Specialty charter flights are also available.

Experience aerial thrills, get up close and personal with history, or just see the sights from a higher vantage point. Whichever flight you choose, it's sure to help you see Palm Springs in a whole new way.
