Having been a mainstay in Palm Desert's cultural scene since 1973, the stage boards of McCallum Theatre have been graced by some of the greatest names in the business. This historic theatre is considered one of the top-50 theatres in the world with just over 1,100 seats. Continuing their 2019 season, some great musicals, comedy acts, and concerts are scheduled.
A visit to the McCallum Theatre (73000 Fred Waring Drive, Palm Desert) offers a panoply of entertainment options from comedy (Jay Leno, Lily Tomlin) to ballet (Swan Lake), and music from classical to country. This state-of-the-art performing arts venue, located on the campus of the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, features a terrific array of Broadway shows in 2019.
The McCallum Theatre is a well-known performing arts center bringing culture and arts entertainment to Palm Desert. The venue opened in 1988 after more than 10 years of fundraising and planning. The popular musician and radio and television personality Fred Waring donated performances to raise the initial funding. Later financial contributions came from Terry Hahn and Bob Hope. Gerald Ford was an early member of the theater's board of directors.
