Fun and excitement await anyone who visits Palm Springs for the 4th of July. Whether you're an outdoor enthusiast, a sports fan, or an art lover, Palm Springs has something for you this Independence Day.
Are you looking for a day trip during your Palm Springs vacation this summer? The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, the world's largest rotating tramcar, will lift you up and away into an adventure almost in the backyard of your Palm Springs vacation rental.
This aerial tramcar is located west of our community of ModMansions Vacation Rentals. At the Valley Station starting point, you will be whisked away over Mount San Jacinto State Park to Mountain Station. It will take approximately 10 minutes to arrive at your destination of elevation at 8,516 feet, and during that time, you can take advantage of the view as the tram slowly rotates. This will only the beginning of the adventure though, as the top of the mountain has many activities to choose from.
Feeling the heat a bit too much on some sunny California days? You're not alone; in fact, you're historically in tune with Francis Crocker, whose "folly" can give you one of the coolest Palm Springs vacation rentals experiences.
Back in 1935, electrical engineer Francis Crocker thought the snow-capped Mount San Jacinto peak looked pretty inviting in comparison to the midday heat of the desert. At an elevation of 10,834 feet and the highest point of the San Jacinto Mountains, his desire to "go up there where it's nice and cool" began germinating into his plans for a tramway running up the steep Chino Canyon cliffs.
