This former home of actor Alan Ladd who starred in “This Gun for Hire” boasts movie-star quality throughout: gated entryway, huge entertaining spaces, open layout, and dramatic views of the backyard and San Jacinto mountains. Designed by famed architects Donald Wexler and Richard Harrison, the estate is bright and minimalist allowing the sunlight to grab the spotlight.

Marble makes a cameo in the dining room table and in the glistening master bath. 3 of the 5 bedrooms feature their own in-suite bathroom providing the ultimate in privacy.

With 2 sinks, 2 dishwashers, and 2 ovens, the kitchen is “kosher ready.” And, Chabad House and temples are nearby.

Policies & disclaimers

In order to keep our homes in beautiful shape, we have a few policies that ensure your next stay is just as wonderful as your first stay.

Age Requirements

You must be 30+ years of age to reserve any home with ModMansions and you must provide a copy of your photo id.

Rates

Published rates are based on standard occupancy, do not include an 11.5% percent City of Palm Springs room tax, are in U.S. dollars, and are subject to change without notice. Higher Rates do apply during Holiday Periods and during Special Events.

Payment Schedule

A Security Deposit is due when you sign your contract with ModMansions. The balance is due 90 days prior to your arrival at the property. In complex long term reservation payment arrangements may be made by contacting us directly.

Utilities

If staying in a home, with its own private pool, for 28 days or more, the guest will be required to pay a utility deposit of at least $1000.00. This deposit will be used to pay monthly gas and electric bills that combined, exceed $200.00 per month. This deposit must be replenished each month as it is used.

Cancellation Policy

Guest shall inform Owner, both by phone and in writing, of Guest’s intent to cancel agreement. For a cancellation received by Owner before 90 days prior to arrival all funds deposited shall be returned less $250 processing fee. After that date, if Owner is able to rent the unit during any part of the intended stay, the rental fee for that occupied period will be refunded, plus the Security Deposit less $250 processing fee. In either case, the $250 processing fee may be applied to a future stay at the property.

Smoking

  • All homes are non-smoking; smoking outside is permitted and ashtrays are provided. Smoking inside the properties is a violation of your rental agreement and subject to immediate forfeiture of your deposit.

Additional Fees/Terms

  • 3-day minimum stay required or 2-day optional with a 20% surcharge;
  • Cleaning fee of a flat $350 fee is added to all rentals
  • Optional pool heating is $85/day; please let us know 24 hours in advance of your stay
  • Rentals, by Palm Springs City ordinance, are assessed a 11.5% city rental tax
  • All rates are in US Dollars
  • Please note the difference between High Season and Low Season Rates:
    • High Season: November 1 – May 31
    • Low Season: June 1 – October 31
  • Higher rates apply during special holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas & New Years´ please contact us about the date you have in mind
  • Lost keys or gate or garage door openers are charged $25 per item
  • Check-in is 3 pm and check out is 10 am. Please contact us if you need special accommodations

Privacy and Parties

Our homes are strictly created for families and friends who entertain while respecting their neighbors. Palm Springs has a strict “quiet zone” after 9 pm. No outdoor music is allowed. Violation of this policy will lead to immediate removal and forfeiture of the security deposit.

Internet, Cable TV & Phone

All homes have Smart HD television, wireless high speed internet and most properties have a digital phone with unlimited calling inside the US and Canada. Please inquiry about your specific property when making a reservation.

Pet Policies

Dogs are welcome in most homes. If you plan to bring a dog, please confirm what rentals will accept them. Extra deposit may be required.

Pool & Spa

Energy costs in Palm Springs are among the highest in the US. A surcharge of pool/spa heating usage applies for daily or weekly use; monthly rentals pay actual electric + gas usage minus an allowance. Pool heating must be ordered in advance as the average pool takes up to 48 hours to heat up to 86 degrees. Pools/spas are cleaned on a twice weekly schedule (by homeowner vendor) during your visit. We also make sure every home has a pool skimmer for occasional use by the guest.

"Our family recently stayed at the Alan Ladd Estate to celebrate Graduations and our 40th anniversary!! We were in Palm Springs in the summer during a heat wave and the Air Conditioning offered us great relief from the heat! We all loved the pool area. The pool is such a great size and the umbrellas and retractable shade gave us needed protection from the sun. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies. The grill is awesome! The home has a very open general area-great for entertaining! The bedrooms are tucked away at the ends of the home so you can escape to peace and quiet if you so choose. We arrived late. The house was nicely staged with all of the lights on and music playing. The managers have put together a very informative booklet to get you acquainted with the area and the home. We felt very welcome! The neighborhood is very quite and great for taking walks. Restaurants are close by. Downtown was fun and happening! There is a huge statue of Marilyn Monroe currently downtown. A variety of stores are close by so if you forget something, you can easily find it at the store. The ladies made the mandatory shopping visit to the outlets-about a 20 minute drive-very easy. The whole family went on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. This is just a short (5 minute) drive away and it is really awesome! It was about 30 degrees cooler up there--so bring the right clothing if you go. We had our one year old grandson with us and this home was perfect for him as well! "We spent the week at the Alan Ladd house having an Amazeballs reunion with friends from college. The property just bleeds "Old Hollywood" from every pore, and we spent many a moment wondering who had been at parties here in the 50's and 60's. The pool/yard is spacious and elegantly manicured with terrific views of the mountains to the west, and one can just imagine Debbie Reynolds passed out in the grass. The house itself has many fixtures and furniture that re original from the time, adding to the illusion. However, there are also all the modern fixtures including plasma/lcd televisions in every room. There is plenty of room throughout for a party or to find a private corner to read quietly. Overall, I would definitely return to this location as often as I could! But... The best aspect of the property was definitely the management of the place. Clark, the property manager, was wonderful and took care of our every need. Thank you! Basically, rent this house. It is conveniently located in one of Palm Springs best neighborhoods, and is extremely representative of what "old Palm Springs" was all about. I can't recommend it enough! "We can’t say enough about the Alan Ladd Estate! We loved every minute of our 8 night stay at house. The house was wonderfully set up and stocked with everything you could possibly need! The sprawling layout made it easy to grab some down time away from others if you needed it. Each room was tastefully designed, with plenty of closet space to settle in. A full bathroom in EVERY bedroom was a treat!!! Super comfy beds as well! We were 4 adults and 4 kids and had so much space! We all enjoyed the wonderful, massive pool and roomy outdoor spaces with lots of place to sit and chat and sip and soak it all in! The outdoor space/pool is top notch! We loved that we could easily walk to downtown and grab a bite. The location of the property is ideal! We enjoyed cooking most of our meals in the gourmet kitchen or BBQ-ing with ease. Our host, Kenny, was the bomb! He was a pleasure to work with in coordinating our arrival, etc. He met us upon check in and walked us through the house, detailing all the finer points of the Estate and making sure all our questions were answered. His attentive and delightful nature was refreshing! One night when we outpaced the ice maker (making margaritas!!), he showed up at our door, like a superhero, with a bag of ice!! "My wife, our dog and myself stayed at the Alan Ladd house for a long weekend with a number of friends. Everyone loved the house. It is charming, well equipped, well maintained with comfortable beds and bedding. The house is located in a nice area of Palm Springs which is also out of the wind. Several of our group were in Palm Springs to take part in an organized bike ride where section of the route were so windy we had trouble keeping our bikes upright. At the house there was no wind. In summary I would say that if you are seeking this size house I doubt if there is a better place in Palm Springs. "My husband and I rented this lovely home for four days with our two dogs (very beautiful, well behaved Golden Retrievers). Our two daughters and grandson came up for part of the time from LA to stay with us as well. Palm Springs, as always, was a lot of fun. The house was outstanding.
