Summer travel and vacationing is rapidly approaching.  With so many potential trips and activities available, it is difficult narrowing down just the right place to pick for summer fun.  With its abundantly warm (hot) weather and host of activities, Palm Springs can be the perfect place for a “heat-seeking” vacation whether it be for a group of friends, married couples or the whole family. Five places in particular stand out as absolute "must-sees" when taking your Palm Springs trip.

Aerial Tramway

Mt. San Jacinto State Park is home to the world's largest rotating tram-car which carries its guests to an elevation of 8,516 feet – which is also about 20-30 degrees cooler than the desert floor.  Guests can enjoy the stunning view of the Chino Canyon as well as exquisite dining and over 50 miles of beautiful hiking trails. Over the course of the ride, the car rotates twice, allowing guests an amazing view in all directions.  At the peak, two restaurants, several gift shops, and an educational theater complete the trip.

Palm Springs Art Museum

Located in downtown Palm Springs, the impressive Palm Springs Art Museum houses a host of stunning works by renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and Ansel Adams.  Originally founded in 1938, it specialized in Native American art, but through the years it has expanded to include a wide array of modern art types and genres. With its free admission Thursday, it is readily available to guests as a source of creativity and beauty.

Desert Holocaust Memorial

On a more serious note, guests can visit the poignant memorial for Jewish Holocaust victims of World War II. A heartbreaking statue stands in the center of a grove with seven figures representing those who perished during this dark time. The beautiful granite pedestal is etched with a map of European concentration camps as well as the number of victims who suffered.  Although saddening, this powerful memorial allows visitors to honor and remember a vital piece of history.

Elvis Honeymoon Hideaway

Fans of the King of Rock and Roll will definitely appreciate the tours of Elvis and Priscilla Presley's historic love nest.  Expert guides offer daily tours of the estate and special events are held yearly to commemorate the King's wedding anniversary birthday.  This experience is definitely a must for every classic rock and roll fan.

The Sandwich Spot

No visit to Palm Springs is complete without a visit to this classic and quirky sandwich deli.  Although small, this shop has gained national attention for its mischievously named sandwiches including "The Thighmaster," "Dirty Weekend," and "The Milf." With the huge variety of breads and toppings, this deli has the perfect lunch for everyone.

Palm Springs is home to countless attractions for every vacationer, but these five experiences will definitely give any vacation an added spark of fun and adventure whether it's high in the sky on the Aerial Tramway or in a corner booth at The Sandwich Spot.
