Nestled within the tranquil desert landscape, Palm Springs might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of a wine-tasting destination. However, this stylish oasis is home to some incredible wine bars and shops, offering an experience as unique as it is delightful. Whether you're a seasoned sommelier or just someone who enjoys a good glass of wine, Palm Springs has something special for you. In this post, we'll guide you through the top spots to savor the perfect vintage, soak in the warm desert ambiance, and maybe even pick up a bottle of liquid sunshine to take home.
Note that hours vary widely, with a few places closed on Sundays and Mondays and others not opening until 5 pm. Please plan carefully.
- Jamala Wines – Headed by winemaker Mark Cargasacchi, Jamala Wines has the only tasting room in Palm Springs. The grapes, however, come from his vineyard in the Santa Rita hills of Santa Barbara. Grenache, cabarnet sauvignon, petite syrah, and blends are his forte. The 2019 Grenache is delicious! Tastings include 5 wines for $20 per person; the tasting fee is waived with the purchase of 2 bottles. www.jamalawines.com
- Bouschet – Bouschet is a hidden gem that embodies the charm of Palm Springs wine culture. This sophisticated yet welcoming wine bar is a haven for wine enthusiasts looking for a diverse selection of local and international wines. With an inviting patio and a cozy indoor space, Bouschet is perfect for an intimate evening or a small gathering. Pair your wine with one of their artisanal cheese platters, and you have the makings of a quintessential Palm Springs experience. BOUSCHET FINE WINE LIQUOR STORE | PALM SPRINGS
